A normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, or 37 degrees
Celsius; more than 2 degrees higher is a “high” fever.

A normal adult pulse rate is 60 to 80 per minute (children 80 to 100,
babies 100 to 140).

You should know how to take a temperature and a pulse rate. As a
general rule the pulse increases about 20 beats per minute for each
Celsius degree rise in fever.

Respiration (breathing) rate is also an indicator of illness. Count
the number of breaths per minute: between 12 and 20 is normal for
adults and older children (up to 30 for younger children, 40 for
babies). People with a high fever or serious respiratory illness
(like pneumonia) breathe more quickly than normal. More than 40
shallow breaths a minute usually means pneumonia.

It’s estimated that 10 million Americans suffer with noise-induced hearing loss. In fact, noise is one of the most common occupational hazards today, with as many as 30 million Americans being exposed to harmful noise levels at work.

We register sound through little hairs that vibrate in our inner ears in response to different noises. When these hairs are exposed to a sudden burst of very loud noise or to a steady stream of fairly loud noise, they can get damaged, resulting in hearing loss.

Sound pressure is measured in decibels (dB). Here are some everyday sounds and their average decibel rankings:

Sound
Decibels (db)
Very faint, rustling leaves
5
Whisper
20
Rainfall
50
Typical speech
60
Washing machine
75
Busy city traffic
85
Hair dryer
90
Leaf blower, rock concert, chainsaw
110
Ambulance, jack hammer
120
Jet plane from 100 feet
130
Fireworks, gunshot
140
12-gauge shotgun
165
How loud is too loud?

Steady exposure to noise that reaches 85 dB can produce hearing loss. A one-time exposure to very loud noises like a gunshot at 140 dB can also cause hearing loss. Listening to a discman or mp3 player at a standard volume level of 5 for 15 minutes a day is enough to cause permanent damage.

Since it’s not practical to walk around with a meter that allows you to measure dB, a good rule of thumb is that if you have to raise your voice in order to be heard by a person who is a couple of feet away, the noise level is considered hazardous.

Another practical measure is to carefully observe for ringing in your ears or if sounds feel flat or dull after leaving a noisy environment. If either of these conditions are present, you were probably exposed to a hazardous level of noise.

If you are exposed to potentially harmful noises at work or home, I recommend that you strongly consider using expandable or pre-molded earplugs. You can find them at almost any pharmacy.

An alternative is to use earmuffs, although they might not provide the same level of protection as earplugs that sit snug in your external ear canal.

If you have children who like to listen to music on their mp3 players or in their cars, please share this article with them so that they’re aware of how their choices today may affect them in the future.

Solarized Water is a wonderful way of applying color to the body. Water, when exposed to sunlight in a colored container for at least an hour becomes irradiated and takes on some of the vibrational energy of that particular color. This is called vibrational essence, color elixirs or Solarized water. Wrap a colored gel around a clear glass or bottle. Add water, cover and place in the sun.

Simply drink solarized water at regular intervals throughout the day. A red gel will give red solarized water; a blue gel, blue solarized water, etc. The longer the water remains exposed to the sun, the stronger is its potency.

Solarization depends on temperature, geographical location and the time of the day. One simple way to determine if the water has absorbed the sun’s energy is to drop an ice cube in the glass of water to be solarized. When the ice cube has completely melted, the water is charged.

Fresh solarized water can be store for several days at a time. Blue solarized water can be kept safely for a week or ten days in hot or cold weather. Because of the light frequencies, red, yellow, and orange solarized water should be changed every two days in warm weather and every ten days to two weeks in cold weather, when storing. Because the color of the water does not change, it is necessary to label each container as to what color the water has been solarized.

If you would like to preserve the water for a longer time, it is a good idea to add a natural preservative to it. A 50/50 mix of the solarized water to alcohol such as brandy or vodka, will keep this vibrational water for many months. It is always a good idea to store your solarized essence in a brown or blue bottle where the sun won’t destabilize its delicate balance.

Solarized Water can be used as an adjunct healing therapy in any situation where color is needed and applied. This water can work on all levels of our mental, spiritual, physical and emotional bodies in subtle and even profound ways.

·	Use a dropper bottle and drop several drops under the tongue or into a glass of water that you could sip throughout the day.
·	Drink a little each day.
·	Drops can be placed directly on the pulse points; wrists, neck and top of feet.
·	Add your vibrational colored water to a spray bottle. Spray directly on you or in any room that needs the color energy.
·	Rub a few drops on the appropriate Chakra points.
·	Add a few drops of the essence water into massage oil.
·	Add several drops into your bath water.
·	Blend your solarized essence with essential oils and place in an oil burner.
Spray your plants or pets with the energized water.

Insomnia is a symptom, not a disease. Insomnia can have many causes, but the biggest cause is due to stress. Stress related to work, school, health or family concerns. Depression is the second biggest cause. The use of stimulants, including caffeine, alcohol, nicotine or other over-the-counter or prescription medications will also cause insomnia. Prescription drugs, including some antidepressant, high blood pressure and steroid medications, can interfere with sleep. Many over-the-counter medications, including some brands of aspirin, decongestants and weight loss products, contain caffeine and other stimulants. Change in your environment or work schedule and even long-term use of sleep medications will actually interupt your sleep cycle. Medical problems, including fibromyalgia or complex diseases of the nerves and muscles can make it very difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Behavioral insomnia, occurs when you worry excessively about not being able to sleep well and try too hard to fall asleep. Most people with this condition sleep better when they’re away from their usual sleep environment.

Best Sleep Tips

1. Sleep. That wonderful but sometimes elusive state of bliss and rejuvenation! I think it is most important to go to sleep with a “Quiet Mind”. Sometimes this is difficult to do. We all have trouble now and then. Sometimes, we are even afraid of knowing that we have to go to sleep.

2. Fear can be an underlining problem in many cases. There are many ways to quiet the mind. Doing 15 to 30 minutes of meditation or yoga can be very helpful. You must allow yourself to be distracted or get into your meditation or yoga and “let go” of the days thoughts…see Meditation.

3. Try tiring yourself out during the day, so that by the time you are ready for bed you are yearning for that pillow! Try exercise during the day to exhaust the muscles and mind. The moving is good when we are depressed too! It gets the blood flowing and makes us move past many issues. Pack your day with lots to do. Errands, class, shopping…whatever you can find to keep you busy.

4. Valerian Root is a wonderful, natural sleep assistanting herb and is considered the ‘valium’ of the herbal world. Herbal tea, half hour before bed, is wonderful for relaxing the digestive system if you are nervous or upset. Chamomile is great for this as well as Kava and Hops. Try brewing these herbs seperate or even together for a wonderful prescription for sleep! See Herbal Teas

5. Reading a book before bed is also good. This can direct your mind to a different place.

6. Diffusing essential oils of Lavender, Chamomile, or Clary Sage are all wonderful to induce a relaxed state and the soothing scents will calm your senses. See Aromatherapy

7. If you are taking a pain killer, be careful for many pain relievers actually have caffiene in them. Perhaps you may want to consider Willow Bark for pain.

8. Remember, we choose our thoughts, our thoughts do not choose us. Believe that this is so. To Believe is a powerful thing. The Universe supports ALL that WE CHOOSE to Believe. So do not torture your mind with troubled thoughts which will not allow you to sleep and are only distructive in the long run. See Belief Systems.

9. Block out light. To increase the quality of your sleep, research has shown that by blocking out light in your bedroom, you can improve your sleep pattern. If you can see your hand in front of your face, after the lights are off, then it is light enough to affect melatonin production. Melatonin is a hormone secreted at night by the pineal gland. The pineal gland is a small organ in the brain sensitive to light levels.

10. Eat Earlier. Eat at least three hours before bedtime. The further away you eat from the time you go to sleep, the better it is for you to have a better night’s sleep.

Managing Your Sleep

Sleep allows our body to rejuvenate and repair!

Don’t Smoke: Besides the fact that it can cause lung cancer and is the second leading cause of death for both men and women, nicotine is a stimulant and can make it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Limit Stimulants: Caffeine, alcohol, some aspirin and many over-the-counter and prescription drugs disrupt sleep. Avoid drinking caffeine or alcoholic beverages for several hours before bedtime. Although alcohol may initially act as a sedative, it can interrupt normal sleep patterns.

Limit Your Nap Time: If you are having trouble sleeping at night, try not to nap during the day because you will throw off your body clock and make it even more difficult to sleep at night. If you are feeling especially tired, and feel as if you absolutely must nap, be sure to sleep no more than 15-30 minutes, earlier in the day.

Keep a Regular Schedule: Keeping a regular schedule will help your body expect sleep at the same time each day. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday, even on the weekends. Oversleeping to make up for a poor night’s sleep, even a couple of nights, can reset your body clock and make it harder for you to get to sleep at night.

Bedtime Rituals

Create a ritual or pattern to prepare your body for sleep.

Be Pro Active and determined when it comes to finding the culprit of your sleep issues. Do not just brush it off to “that’s how it is”. It is always a revelation when we discover more about ourselves. Use your finding to improve your situation!

Spend quiet time by doing things that can make falling asleep easier. This may include meditation, relaxation and/or breathing exercises, or taking a warm bath. Try listening to relaxing music or Andrew’s guided imagery program.

Listening to Soft Music: cues your body that it’s time to slow down and begin to prepare for sleep.

At Night: Try to keep your bedroom dark while you are sleeping so that the light will not interfere with your rest.

Create a Sleep Journal: Overthinking is one of our biggest enemies. Write down your worries and possible solutions before you go to bed. Get them out of your head and on paper. This allows you to see your ‘fears’ in writing. This brings you one step closer to disarming your fears. A journal or “to do” list may be very helpful in letting you put away concerns and organize your mind in order to make tomorrow easier.

Go to Sleep When Sleepy: When you feel tired, go to bed.

Don’t Lie in Bed Awake: Get out of bed. Go into another room and do something relaxing until you feel sleepy. Worrying about falling asleep actually keeps many people awake.

Television in the Bedroom: is a real no-no! To much light, stimulating commercials and news shows tend to be alerting and keep us awake.

In the Morning: Expose yourself to bright light/sunlight soon after awakening. This will help to regulate your body’s natural biological clock.

Food used as a preventative to dis-ease and as an essential part of medicine has been established for over 4000 years by physicians of natural medicine. Food is a major determinant of health that is directly under our control. We cannot always control pollution, hereditary factors, noise, environment, and the social and emotional behaviors of others, but we can certainly choose what and what not to eat. I hope that you will pay attention to the principles of food medicine and incorporate this natural and powerful healing component into daily living, because anything we do three times a day will have an effect on our body!

Acidophilus – The normal, healthy colon contains “friendly” bacteria (85% lactobacillus and 15% coliform bacteria). It is the friendly bacterial flora found in yogurt and is essential to the digestive system. When these bacteria are not in balance, then the person may experience bloating, flatulence, constipation, and mal-absorption of nutrients. Acidophilus taken as a dietary supplement may help to detoxify and to rebuild a balanced intestinal flora. It is used for the prevention of Candida as well as for treatment. Acidophilus aids the digestion and helps to replace the “friendly” intestinal flora.

Apsaragus – Asparagus is spring’s most luxurious vegetable. It was once cultivated for medicinal purposes as a natural remedy for blood cleansing and diuretic properties. Asparagus is rich in immunity-enhancing antioxidants and vitamins. Asparagus can be processed into juice and other products to increase total utilization and increase net value. Asparagus juice contains antioxidants, such as rutin, ferulic acid and ascorbic acid. When buying asparagus look for compact tips and smooth green stems that are uniform in color down the length of the stem. Check the cut stem end for drying and avoid withered spears. Asparagus is low in calories and provides substantial amounts of antioxidants – Vitamins A and C. It truly shines as a source of folate and has a goodly amount of fiber.

Black and Green Tea – For years, studies have indicated that the antioxidants in green tea offer protection against diseases, including cancer, and even fight dental cavities. One of the most beneficial of these antioxidants is called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). According to the University of California Wellness Letter, Mar 2002, regular black tea is turning out to be just as healthful as green tea. The evidence for tea’s health effects comes mainly from lab studies, though some human studies point to possible benefits in preventing heart disease and cancer. EGCG, inhibited an enzyme that cancer cells need in order to grow. The cancer cells that couldn’t grow big enough to divide self-destructed. It would take about 4-10 cups of green tea a day to get the blood levels of EGCG that inhibited cancer in the study. Black tea also contains EGCG, but at lower concentrations.

Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries – Antioxidant compounds found in blueberries, sweet cherries, strawberries and blackberries may fight arterial disease by preventing the oxidation of LDL (”bad”) cholesterol, according to a team of researchers at the University of California, Davis. In studies conducted at the University, Dr. I. Marina Heinonen, a visiting scientist from the University of Helsinki in Finland, and colleagues extracted antioxidant compounds from blackberries, red raspberries, sweet cherries, blueberries and strawberries. In a series of experiments in laboratory culture dishes, they found that blackberries and Blueberries are of particular interest because of their high antioxidant capacity. They had the most antioxidant activity in one experiment and sweet cherries in another.

Broccoli – Broccoli is known as the “Crown Jewel of Nutrition” for its vitamin-rich, high in fiber, and low in calorie properties. Not only does broccoli give you the best vegetable nutrition available, it also gives you many ways to lead a healthier, longer life. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States with cancer as the second, and broccoli gives you many ways to help fight and prevent these and other diseases. Broccoli has multiple cancer-fighting properties including vitamin C, beta carotene, and fiber. It is also rich of phytochemicals which appear to offer us protection against certain cancers and heart disease. Indole carbinol and sulforaphane are two different phytochemicals that are found in broccoli.

Carotenoids – of which beta-carotenes are the most popular, are found in many fruits and vegetables, animals, plants and microorganisms. The body converts beta carotene into Vitamin A. Vitamin A is a fat- soluble vitamin essential for vision, growth, cell division, reproduction and immunity. Among the 600 or more carotenoids in foods, beta-carotene, lycopene, and lutein are well-known leaders in the fight to reduce the damage from free radicals.

Citrus Fruits – Hundreds of studies have been conducted on the nutrients found in citrus fruit, including orange juice, and the role these nutrients play in reducing the risk of such diseases as cancer and heart disease, when part of a low fat diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruit, which contain essential vitamins and minerals, are an important part of a healthy diet for all men, women and children. In both fresh and juice form, citrus – including oranges, grapefruit and specialty varieties such a temple oranges, tangerines and tangelos – have many important nutritional benefits.

Ginger – Warming and antiseptic to the viscera, ginger is used for deficient cold, digestive weakness, diarrhea, anorexia, vomiting and indigestion. Slice 6-8 pieces of fresh ginger and boil in 2 cups of water. Let this aromatic tea brew for 15 minutes and drink two-three cups a day.

Onion – An important immune booster, diaphoretic and lubricant for muscles, onions are rich in sulfur compounds called Thiosulfinates. They are anti-inflammatory and contain Vitamin C, Quercetin and a powerful antioxidant.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids – The omega 3 fatty acids in flax oil and fatty fish (such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel) act as immune boosters by increasing the activity of white blood cells, which consume bacteria. Essential fatty acids also protect the body against damage from over-reactions to infection. Take essential fatty acid supplements, such as flax or fish oil and add additional vitamin E, which works in synergy with essential fatty acids to boost the immune system. An easy way to get your daily dose is to add one to three teaspoons of flax oil to a fruit and yogurt smoothies.

There are hundreds of plants used all over the world, which are used in herbal medicine as treatments for inflammation. Below you will find a list of some of the most accessible and most reliable.

Arnica Suave is a rich blend of quartz silica, amber resin and the pain-relieving power of arnica in a special massage-in suave designed by Andrew for his practice and is a part of his new “Crystal Inspirations” product line.

Boswellia has unique anti-inflammatory action, much like the conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used by many for inflammatory conditions. Unlike NSAIDs, however, long-term use of boswellia does not lead to irritation or ulceration of the stomach.

Bromelain is a plant-enzyme. Bromelain is not actually a single substance, but a group of protein-digesting enzymes found in pineapple juice and in the stem of pineapple plants. Local swelling is the releasing of histamines in a localized area causes the vasodilation and increased permeability of blood vessels. Bromelain has an anti-inflammatory effect and is a very effective treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is recommend taking 200 to 400 milligrams three times a day on an empty stomach at least ninety minutes before or three hours after eating. Discontinue use if you develop any itching or rash.

Cayenne Pepper (Capsaicin) A cream containing small amounts of Capsaicin can help relieve pain when rubbed onto muscle pain and arthritic joints, according to the results of a double blind study. It does this by depleting the nerves of a pain-mediating neurotransmitter known as substance P. Although application of capsaicin cream may initially cause a burning feeling, the burning will lessen with each application and soon disappear for most people. A cream containing 0.025–0.075% of capsaicin can be applied to the affected joints three to five times a day.

Devils Claw: An analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Dosage: one to two grams, three times daily.

Ginger: An anti-inflammatory. Ginger has been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine as an anti-inflammatory. Taking 6–50 grams of fresh or powdered ginger per day indicated that ginger might be helpful. Suggested Dosage: 0.5 to 1 mg of powdered ginger daily

Ginger Tea: Add one grated teaspoon of fresh ginger to a cup of hot water. Take two times daily.

Glucosamine sulfate (GS), a nutrient derived from sea shells, contains a building block needed for the repair of joint cartilage. GS has significantly reduced symptoms of osteoarthritis. All published clinical investigations on the effects of GS in people with osteoarthritis report statistically significant improvement. Most research trials use 500 mg GS taken three times per day. Benefits from GS generally become evident after three to eight weeks of treatment. Avoid if you have any allergic reactions to shell fish.

Glucosamine stimulates the production of the specific elements of cartilage and protects them. It helps your body repair worn cartilage, reduce pain and improve function. Chondroitin attracts fluids into proteoglycans, the molecules dispersed through out the cartilage that give the tissue its shock-absorber quality, and protects the cartilage against breakdown. These are substances the body already produces for itself in small amounts.

Glucosamine is found in almost all tissue; it has a role in the repair and maintenance of joint cartilage. Chondroitin sulfate is a major component of cartilage and is thought to inhibit the enzymes that contribute to the breakdown of cartilage.

S-adenosyl methionine (SAMe) possesses anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and tissue-healing properties that may help protect the health of joints.SAM-e is derived from methionine, an essential amino acid; it may promote cartilage formation and repair. Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are usually sold together. In clinical studies, the supplements had to be taken for several weeks before providing any pain relief. Don’t forget the truly natural and proven methods for battling osteoarthritis, lose excess weight and exercise.

Licorice root: An anti-inflammatory. Long-term use can elevate blood pressure and increase potassium loss. Dosage: one-eighth to one-quarter teaspoon of a 5: 1 solid extract up to three times daily.

Turmeric: An effective anti-inflammatory. Dosage: 400 mg three times daily; take on an empty stomach and combine with 1,000 mg of bromelain

White Willow Bark: Anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. White Willow bark has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. Extracts providing 60–120 mg salicin per day are approved for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Although the analgesic actions of willow are typically slow-acting, they last longer than aspirin.

Essential Oils for Inflammation

Basil: contains several antioxidants in its volatile oils that act just like some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and Celebrex. When isolated at high enough concentrations these oils worked as well as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin in research trials.

Camphor is a white transparent waxy crystalline solid with a strong penetrating pungent aromatic odor. As an antimicrobial substance, camphor is readily absorbed through the skin and produces a feeling of cooling similar to that of menthol and acts as slight local anesthetic. In larger quantities, it is poisonous when ingested and can cause seizures, confusion, irritability, and neuromuscular hyperactivity. Found in our Muscular/Pain Remedy Blend.

Clove: this intense oil, most commonly used to relieve dental pain and infection, is also used to dissolve the eggs deposited by intestinal worms. It is delicious but overwhelming in both smell and taste. It is an antiseptic, carminative, warming, and very aromatic oil.

Eucalyptus: reduces pain, spasms and inflammation, and stimulates local blood circulation and the removal of waste products and toxins from the tissues. It is used to treat muscular aches and pains, strains, sprains, and other traumatic injuries of the muscles, ligaments and tendons. It also helps to reduce nerve inflammation and pain and is useful for the treatment of the various kinds of neuralgia such as sciatica. Eucalyptus reduces pain and inflammation due to chronic arthritic conditions. It also has a mild clearing and stimulating effect on the mind which helps to reduce fatigue.

Ginger: This rich, spicy oil so often used for nausea also helps normalize blood pressure either by raises blood pressure by restricting external blood flow, or lowers it by dilating surface blood vessels. This oil is warming and an antiseptic.

Menthol is actually a compound obtained from peppermint oil or other mint oils or made synthetically. Menthol has local anesthetic and counterirritant qualities. It is contained in nonprescription products for short-term relief of minor sore throat and minor mouth or throat irritation. Menthol is also contained in combination products used for relief of muscle aches, sprains, and similar conditions. Menthol is often used with other ingredients such as camphor and eucalyptus for pain relief. Menthol is considered an antidote for many homeopathic remedies and should be avoided by people taking them. Found in our Muscular/Pain Remedy Blend.

Peppermint: acts as a muscle relaxant, particularly in the digestive tract, and it can also reduce the inflammation of nasal passages and relieve muscle pains. When massaged into the skin, peppermint oil plays an innocuous trick on the nerves: It stimulates those that produce a cool, soothing sensation and desensitizes those that pick up pain messages.

Rosemary: Studies show that this oil improves general circulation.

Tea Tree: has a wide range of topical applications and is commonly used to treat skin and respiratory infections. Surprisingly, the oil is active against all three categories of infectious organisms: bacteria, viruses and fungi. Tea tree oil is an effective treatment for many skin conditions, such as cold sores, the blisters of shingles and chicken pox, verrucae, warts, acne, large inflamed spots and nappy rash. It is also effective against fungal infections, such as ringworm, athlete’s foot and thrush, as well as dandruff–a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis.

I heard about this and wanted to share. Not sure if it works the way it does, but its worth a try!

Cinnamon & Honey
Bet the drug companies won’t like this one getting around. Facts on honey and
cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases.
Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today
also accept honey as a “Ram Ban” (very effective) medicine for all kinds of
diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of
diseases.

Today’s science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right
dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a
magazine in Canada, on its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following
list of diseases
that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:
Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and
jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the
arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already
had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the
next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and
strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have
treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and
veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the
arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS:
Arthritis patients may take daily, morning, and night, one cup of hot water with
two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken
regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted
at the Copenhagen
University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a
mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before
breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated,
practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month,
mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis
started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS:
Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of
lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

TOOTHACHE:
Make a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey and
apply on the aching tooth. This may be applied three times a day until the
tooth stops aching.

CHOLESTEROL:
Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16
ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient were found to reduce the
level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned
for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is
cured. According to information received in the said journal, pure honey taken
with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol. (By the way. if you’re
taking cholesterol medicine STOP! They all contain STATIN which weaken your
muscles…including YOUR HEARTand none has been shown to stop heart attacks or
strokes!!!!

COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm
honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will
cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.

UPSET STOMACH:
Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach
ulcers from the root.

GAS:
According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that if honey
is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM:
Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and
protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that
honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey
strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION:
Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves
acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.

INFLUENZA:
A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural Ingredient which
kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY:
Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the
ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder and
three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four
times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans
also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a
20-year-old.

PIMPLES:
Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste.
Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with
warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:
Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures
eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:
Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at
night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of
water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person.
Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in
the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER:
Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the
stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these
kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of
cinnamon powder for one month three times a day.

FATIGUE:
Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather
than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take
honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr.
Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a
glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing
and in the afternoon at about 3:00 p.m. when the vitality of the body starts
to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week.

BAD BREATH:
People of South America, first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of
honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh
throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS:
Daily morning and night honey and
cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restore hearing. Remember when we were
kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on it!

As the earth is tilted so that the sun is directly over the equator,
this signifies the start of the vernal equinox. This time of Spring
has been celebrated over the centuries as the beginning of the
rebirth period. The Spring Season is probably one of the most
embraced and most significant of the season changes, for it denotes
the start of new life, regeneration of nature and the renewal of the
spirit.

As an expression in nature, this is the time when crops are planted.
Spring flowers bloom in fields, yards and parks. Gardens are filled
with the luxurious growth of delicate petals of geraniums and
hydrangeas to the fragrance of lilacs and tuberose. Brilliant bursts
of sun showers water the earth. The brisk breeze of a new season
scatters her seeds and the warmth of the healing sun plays a part in
the renewal of the season.

The renewal of the spirit is everywhere. This contagious expression
of love, cleansing and outward energy is the catalyst for change. A
time to awaken from the long and cold winter season of hibernation.
The soul can find a new journey, a new found path and a fresh
beginning in this time of Spring.

Spring is good time to take a good look at our health and our
lifestyle. Start by looking at the life around you. Are you living in
chaos? Is your home in a shambles? Is there clutter everywhere? You
may want to consider starting with a good decluttering session. Feng
Shui, the ancient art of placement, can help you to find order in
your life.

The temple, our physical bodies, are the only thing we have to carry
the soul. When our physical bodies are not in proper working order,
everything around us ultimately suffers. Our good health is all we
have that stands between us and the aging process. The longer you
keep your physical body in optimum health, the longer you have your
temple to keep your soul on this plane. Detoxification is the best
way to keep the body at its most ultimate working level.

By enjoying a healthy, nutritional diet, getting good quality sleep
and moderate exercise this can keep our physical form at it’s best,
always. Take the opportunities that are offered. Make the
opportunities that are not. Find your Priorities of Life and give
them merit. This is the best season to do this. This is the time when
we have the greatest energy to utilize the power we are given!

As a practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture, tongue
diagnosis is one of the great tools I use to understand the
association between the inner workings of the stomach and digestive
system as well as get an overall picture as to what is going on with
the body as a whole.

I always feel that it is better to see other tongues in order to
understand your own. This web site can give you a better visual of
tongues and what is expressed to you by what you see.

Take a good look at your tongue in the mirror. Look at the color of
the body of the tongue, the coating on the tongue and its color. Note
the edges of your tongue…does it have a coat, no coat, is it
scalloped? Look at the tip, the middle and the back of the tongue.
What do you observe?

Now click on the following site and you will get greater insight as
to what your tongue is telling you about your health:

Spring brings cleansing and rejuvenation. Most often the liver is the target of a cleansing herbal regimen, since the liver is one of the most important organs in the body. It processes our hormones, contributes to proper digestion, cleanses the body of toxins, and many other important duties. A good cleansing regimen, however, will also cleanse and support other vital organs, such as heart, kidneys, blood, and digestive system. It will also do wonderful things for your spirit! It is vital to consume lots of water, with lemon is ideal, and get fresh air to flush these toxins out of your system.

Dandelion Root: Dandelion Root can be made into a bitter tea (don’t sweeten it, the bitterness is how it works – you’ll get use to it) as an excellent tonic for the liver and blood purifier. Dandelion roots are very high in vitamins and minerals. The common dandelion is an unusually nutritious food. Its leaves contain substantial levels of vitamins A, C, D, and B complex as well as iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium, manganese, copper, choline, calcium, boron, and silicon. Worldwide, the root of the dandelion has been used for the treatment of a variety of liver and gallbladder problems. Other historical uses of the root and leaves include the treatment of breast diseases, water retention, digestive problems, joint pain, fever, and skin diseases. The most active constituents in dandelion appear to be eudesmanolide and germacranolide, substances unique to this herb.

Milk Thistle: Milk Thistle is the best in cleaning our blood and liver and is a traditional way to get our health back on track and revitalize and nourish our entire internal ecological system from the ravages of winter. Milk Thistle is an excellent cleansers for the liver. Cleansing is one of the more important roles of Milk Thistle as it helps to prevent a host of problems our bodies can acquire from internal and external toxic overload.

Burdock Root: Burdock root helps to purify blood and restore the liver to aid in a restful sleep. Helps to reduce build up of toxins in the skin resulting in boils. Helps gallbladder functions and stimulates the immune system. Seed forms are also used.

Nettle: Nettles are invaluable as a food, rich in vitamins and minerals. Only the young, tender tips are suitable for cooking, the stalks and lower leaves are not edible. They can be cooked then pureed for soup or vegetable accompaniment. Nettles make a valuable tonic after the winter and are an excellent remedy for Anemia, their vitamin C content ensures that the iron they contain is properly absorbed. Nettles increase the quality of the blood helping to give a healthy glow to the skin.

Yellow Dock: Yellow Dock is applicable to all the purposes for which the other species are used. The root has laxative, alterative and mildly tonic action, and can be freely used as a tonic and laxative in rheumatism, bilious complaints and as an astringent in piles, bleedings of the lungs, etc. It is largely prescribed for diseases of the blood, from a spring eruption, to scurvy, scrofula and chronic skin diseases. It is also useful in jaundice and as a tonic to the stomach and the system generally. It has an action on the bowels very similar to that of Rhubarb, being perhaps a little less active, but operating without pain or uneasiness. Rumicin is the active principle of the Yellow Dock, and from the root, containing Chrysarobin, a dried extract is prepared officially, of which from 1 to 4 grains may be given for a dose in a pill. This is useful for relieving a congested liver, as well as for scrofulous skin diseases.

Echinacea : First used by the Indigenous North Americans who harvested the plants for extensive use in the treatment of infectious wounds and burns or eruptive skin complaints. It enhances the phagocytic activity of white blood cells- identifying and retiring bacterial, viral and fungal infections, in addition to the clearance of these from the lymphatic system. Higher doses are often used for affecting acute immune responses.

Astragalus : To be used after colds or infection to rebuild immunity, Astragalus is a sweet tasting herb effective in restoring both resilience to future respiratory infections, and efficiency of metabolism to ensure optimal nutrition for immune reserves to fight off those spring colds. This herb is the best for restoring energy to the body very quickly.

Garlic : Garlic was worshipped by the ancient Egyptians, chewed by Greek Olympian athletes and thought to be essential for keeping vampires at bay! But it is also good for zapping bacteria, keeping your heart healthy, warding off coughs and colds. Garlic is an antibiotic that can actually kill infecting bacteria and at the same time protect the body from the poisons that are causing the infection. It is known that the most sensitive bacterium to garlic is the deadly Bacillus anthracis which produces the poison anthrax. Vapor from freshly cut garlic can kill bacteria at a distance of 20 cms!

Marshmallow : Marshmallow stimulates the immune system and the production of white blood cells. It also soothes inflammation, slows production of mucus, and reduces sugar levels in the body.
